Positive: The views are stunning & the property is built in such a way to mage the most of them.

Negative: I didn’t like that I paid extra for a room that was advertised on booking.com as having 2 beds only to find that it didn’t have 2 beds so I may as well have saved money by booking a cheaper room. When we asked the hotel staff about it, they blamed it on booking.com & said we’d have to pursue a refund for the price difference from booking.com. The hotel also needs to improve its inventory - it didn’t have 2 of the wines on its limited list - & I felt that the packed breakfast we got (we had to leave as 6am to climb le Morne) was very basic considering the cost of the hotel (e.g. dry sliced white bread with a boiled egg, a yoghurt, a piece of fruit & some cheese). They also need to get better at their understanding of vegetarianism - I ordered chocolate mousse for dessert at dinner but when I took my first bite, I could tell it was solid with gelatine - so I checked, & they told me it was only a small amount! Nervous drivers should also note that the drive up to the hotel is quite tough - maybe better suited to bigger cars than my Kia!

Summary: Great views but not great value for money.

Positive: We stayed at Hotel Chalets Chamarel from 12 to 15 February with my wife, and it was truly one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to Mauritius. The location is absolutely breathtaking - waking up in the mountains with panoramic views over the west coast and the ocean below feels unreal. Sunsets from the infinity pool are simply magical and worth the stay alone. The chalets are private, peaceful and perfectly integrated into nature. You feel completely disconnected from the world - in the best possible way. Everything was clean, well maintained and thoughtfully designed. The restaurant deserves special mention - delicious food, beautiful presentation and a terrace view that makes every breakfast and dinner feel special. What we appreciated most was the atmosphere - calm, romantic and intimate. It’s a perfect place for couples who want quiet, nature and quality time together. Thank you for such a warm and memorable stay. We would absolutely love to come back again.

Positive: The view from our chalet was stunning. The property was spacious and there was a private pool in front of it. The cleanliness was spot on. Great place to spend your special occasion such as honeymoon or to celebrate.

Negative: The road leading to the Chalets was quite a long, steep and narrow path consisted of two parallel concrete blocks and a hole in between them - at first it was quite scary to drive but eventually got used to it, without any negative experience. While the breakfasts were fully complimentary, for the dinner about half of the options were paid extra (in my opinion, the complimentary options were not exciting at all) and you needed to sign the bill each time - it made some non-inclusive experience, I would rather appreciate it being counted right away against the room.

Summary: Great place for a romantic stay.

Positive: Great stay at the Chalets. My friend and I were there for three nights and it was a lovely relaxing stay. The chalets were amazing and the bed was one of the most comfy ones I have ever slept in. Views from the chalets were great. hanging out the front of the chalet was very relaxing. The breakfast was amazing. Dinner was good. Pool area was nice to chill in, and comfy sun beds. Staff were amazing and very helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Negative: More of a comment around the dinner as we went half board - and some of the items you had to pay extra on top of what we already paid for half board stay, which was a little disappointing and also limited dinner choices.

Positive: The location is amazing with beautiful views, also during sunset. The receptionist staff very friendly. Food was good.

Negative: It could be cleaner, especially the lounge chair pillows and bed blankets. Even though you pay half board, some dishes on the menu cost extra. Also, it is not so easy to find. Our taxi driver got very lost. The hotel should give better indications for arrivals. Also, you absolutely need a car, otherwise you are stuck.
